Project Overview

ConnectED is an Erasmus+ training course designed to empower youth workers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to create inclusive and accessible digital communication.

In today’s digital world, communication shapes participation. However, many young people still face barriers—whether due to language, disability, culture, or access to technology. ConnectED responds to this challenge by supporting youth workers in making their communication more inclusive, ethical, and impactful.

The project brought together participants from across Europe and neighbouring regions to explore how digital tools can be used to include rather than exclude, ensuring that no young person is left behind.

Objectives

ConnectED aimed to:

  • Strengthen youth workers’ competences in inclusive digital communication

  • Increase awareness of barriers young people face online

  • Promote the use of accessible language, formats, and tools

  • Encourage critical thinking about digital content and bias

  • Support participants in developing real-life communication strategies and campaigns

At its core, the project addressed a key question:
👉 How can we make digital communication truly accessible for all young people?

Activities

The project took place as an international training course in Spain, bringing together 18 youth workers from diverse backgrounds.

The programme combined non-formal education methods with hands-on learning, including:

  • Interactive workshops on inclusive language and accessibility

  • Sessions on understanding audiences and communication channels

  • Practical exercises on evaluating digital communication practices

  • Collaborative development of awareness-raising campaigns

  • Reflection groups and Youthpass-based learning processes

Participants worked in teams to design and implement a real campaign on inclusive digital communication, aiming to reach a wide audience in a short time. This hands-on approach allowed them to apply their learning immediately in a practical and creative way.

The programme also fostered connection and exchange through networking activities, intercultural discussions, and collaborative idea generation.

Learning Outcomes

Participants developed key competences in:

  • Creating clear, inclusive, and accessible content

  • Identifying and reducing communication barriers

  • Using digital tools in a more ethical and inclusive way

  • Designing engaging awareness campaigns

  • Reflecting on their own practices as youth workers

Tangible Results
  • Awareness campaigns reaching thousands of people online

  • Practical tools and ideas for inclusive communication strategies

  • Increased confidence in applying digital inclusion principles

  • New project ideas and partnerships for future cooperation

Impact

The impact of ConnectED goes beyond the training itself:

  • Participants improved their daily work with young people by applying inclusive communication methods

  • Organisations strengthened their capacity to communicate more effectively and reach diverse audiences

  • Communities benefited from more accessible and inclusive information

The project also placed strong emphasis on inclusion, involving participants with different types of barriers and ensuring their active participation throughout the process.
